  3. Insert your hook into the first sitch;
  4. Yarn over and pull up a loop;
  5. Yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook;
  6. Yarn over and pull through two remaining loops completing the double crochet.

This technique is usefull when you want to add a row of double crochets in a new color or when you ran out of yarn at the end of a row without having to chain in the beginning of the row.

Using this technique you can join the double crochet anywhere you like, not just in the beginning of the row.
