How to Close Amigurumi – Flat Closure

To learn how to close the top of your amigurumi pieces flat follow the writen instructions or the video tutorial below!

  1. Leave a long tail at the end of your amigurumi piece;
  2. Chose which will be the front and the back;
  3. Thread the long tail left at the end on an embroidery or yarn needle;

  4. Turn the front of the piece towards you;
  5. Pinch the oppening at the top bringing the front and the back together;

  6. Insert the needle under the top loops of a stitch from the front and the back;

  7. Pull the yarn;

  8. Repeat for all the remaining stitches and until the opening is completely closed;
  9. Leave a long tail at the end if needed.

This technique is very useful when you want the arms of your amigurumi to lay flat against their body instead of out to the side, or when you want your amigurumi softies to be able to sit down!

Here are two examples where I used this technique:

I used this technique for the Fox arms because I wanted them to lay flat against their bodies.
