Free Amigurumi Pattern: Little Fish

Fish amigurumi crochet toy

These little amigurumi fishes were made as companions for amigurumi Happy! He is crazy about fish and is known for thinking about food in really awkward times =D

They can be used as decoration and little cute crochet accessories as well! Watch how to attach a keyring on your amigurumi in this tutorial and hang your little fish on your bag, backpack, keys, wherever you want!

Grab you crochet hooks and let’s go fishing!

Materials

  • Medium weight yarn in the color of your choice

  • 1 pair of 6mm safety eyes

  • 3,5mm hook

  • Tapestry needle

  • Stuffing

Abbreviations

Finished size: 6,5cm / 2,56 inches

Skill level: Easy

About: The terminology used in this pattern is the US terminology. Gauge is not important.

This project is worked in continuous rounds. Don’t join rounds at the end. You may want to use a marker to indicate the beginning of the round.

All stitches are worked in both loops.

Body and Tail

Rnd 1: 6sc in Magic Ring          (6st)

Rnd 2: (1sc, inc 2) x 3             (9st)

Rnd 3: (2sc, inc 2) x 3             (12st)

Rnd 4: 12sc                             (12st)

Rnd 5: (3sc, inc 2) x 3              (15st)

Rnd 6-8: 15sc                           (15st)

– Place safety eyes between rounds 3 and 4

Rnd 9: (3sc, inv dec 2) x 3         (12st)

– Begin to stuff and continue as you go along

Rnd 10: (2sc, inv dec 2) x 3       (9st)

Rnd 11: 1sc, (inv dec 2) x 4       (5st)

Rnd 12: (inc 2) x 5                    (10st)

Rnd 13: (inc 2) x 10                  (20st)

– Sl st, needle join and leave long tail

Closing

Little amigurumi fish free tutorial

1. Weave the tail to the center of the caudal tail.

2. Catch 5 stitches in the center

3. Pull tight making the hole close.

4. Finish off.

5. Hide the tail.

6. Closed.

Dorsal Fin

Amigurumi cat toy free pattern

1. With the needle weave the yarn under one stitch between the eyes and on the same round.

2. Make a slipknot on the hook leaving a long tail behind the slipknot.

3-4. Insert the needle in the round directly behind keeping the line (fin) as straight as possible. Work 1sc, 3hdc, 1sl st.

5. Leave long tail. Weave the yarn tails to the center of the caudal fin and finish off. 

Pectoral Fin (make 2, one on each side)

1. With the needle weave the yarn under one stitch 2 rounds behind the eyes and 1 stitch bellow.

2. Make a slipknot on the hook leaving a long tail behind the slipknot.

3-4. Work all stitches in the same space: 5hdc

5. Leave long tail. Weave the yarn tails to the center of the caudal fin and finish off.
